  • Did you know that you can go from New York to Vermont in only 12 minutes on the Lake Champlain Ferries? The ferries have linked the two communities since 1826. The latest in their fleet is the Raymond C. Pecor Jr., which was built in 2010 and it can carry up to 50 automobiles.

The Lake Champlain Ferries runs 365 days a year even on the toughest winter days from Plattsburgh, NY to Grand Isle, VT. If Lake Champlain freezes and the ferry cannot cut through the ice, it stops running for a short time, but this is a very rare occurrence. It is equipped to cut through even the toughest ice.

Some fun trivia that you may not know…a baby boy was born right in the middle of Lake Champlain on the ferry in July 2003 and the Phish concert brought in a record number of ferry travelers in 1996.

So go explore and check out this beautiful ride.
