Fishkill Area Insight

  • Summertime baseball! It is the American pastime, and there is no better place to enjoy a night out with family and friends then to go to Dutchess Stadium and catch a Renegades game!!

The Renegades got their start in Dutchess County in 1994, and they are a Class A team that is an affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays. The Renegades play in Dutchess Stadium, which is located in the Town of Fishkill, and is just minutes from Interstate 84. The stadium design is reminiscent of a smaller Camden Yards.

Going to a Renegades game is always fun for the entire family. They always seem to be having a promotion going on! Anything from “It’s-a Me Mario” to “Pirates & Princesses,” your guess is as good as mine as to what these promotions actually are - but I can assure you they will be fun! And it seems as though they have fireworks at almost every night game!

The best thing about going to a Renegades game though, is that it won’t break the bank! Ticket prices for the best seats are about the same as a 3-D movie and the concession pricing is very family friendly too!

    Fishkill, NY
Having grown up in Fishkill, and then living there for more than 35 years, I feel a special attachment to this village. I now reside in East Fishkill so I haven't gone that far, but there is a charm about Fishkill that is unmatched in all of Dutchess County. I know what you're thinking, Fishkill? What the heck kind of name is that for a town, you folks have something against fish? Well, you see Fishkill was settled by the Dutch and “Kill” in Dutch means “Creek”. Simply put, we had a creek full of fish, hence the name Fishkill.

The village offers an eclectic mix of buildings, some pre-date the Revolutionary War, and, yes, Washington did sleep here! But, don't be fooled by its old façade. Fishkill is truly a thriving, fun, energetic place to live. Along Main Street you'll find many dining options, from a “5 Guys Burgers & Fries” to a fantastic Italian restaurant called “Il Barilotto”, and practically every other cuisine imaginable. It also boosts two wine bars and a bar called “The White House” that has been a main street standard for 60 years of more! Numerous shops, as well as an amazing barbershop called “In the Cut”, and numerous hair and nail salons.

Fishkill and the surrounding area are part of the Wappingers Central School District, a very sought after award winning, school system. Always receives high marks on every educational ranking system I have ever seen.

This is also an excellent commuter location, being only a five minute drive to interstate 84 and a 10-15 minute ride to the Metro North station in Beacon. If you are looking for a great place to live, you should put Fishkill on your short list!
