Dating from primarily during the 1930s, 40s, and 50s, Sandy Beach homes are mostly well built capes and a sprinkling of ranch homes that usually include full basements and garages. Many of the homes have nice carpentry trim and fireplaces....prices today range mainly from low $100s to high $130s.
Over time, of course, many homes have added improvements such as family rooms. There was and still is a Sandy Beach Garden Club (the soil here is a sandy loam that makes for great gardens). Even better - they have their own private community Sandy Beach Club & Park right on the East River where you’ll find picnic facilities, a little swimming beach, and even some boat docks. This little piece of waterfront paradise was left to the community many years ago by a landowner. This park is exclusively for the residents on the original streets.... the newer (pricier) homes nearby do not qualify for membership! The fee for those who qualify and want to join is well under $100 per year which helps to maintain the park. If you want to participate, there are many different activities. It's gated and only available to residents and their guests.
There is also a small private boating club with a lovely facility and docks called the Sandy Beach Yacht Club. This a delightful spot and its fun loving members can live anywhere and still join. Also right along East River Road at the edge of these homes is a sweet, casual neighborhood family-type restaurant called The Beach House where you’ll find beer, wine, and down to earth food...superb Fish Frys!
Proximity to the North Bridge (Niagara Falls) is excellent...so it’s a short drive over to the shopping outlet mall or big box stores on the boulevard.
