  • The Verona Chapter of UNICO will be hosting a traditional Italian Sunday Dinner on Sunday, January 29 at 1:00 p.m. at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Spirit. Tickets are $35 at the door, $30 in advance, and $15 for children 12 and under. The church is located at 36 Gould Street in Verona.

    An Italian-American dinner will be prepared by Italian-Americans including; antipasto, Sunday gravy, pasta and dessert. This is a BYOW, bring your own wine, event sponsored by Eight Hills Caterers, Fresco, Lakeside Deli, Kings Super Market, Miele’s Restaurant, as well as Nanina’s In The Park.

    Annin & Company, the world's oldest and largest flag manufacturer, has its main manufacturing plant located on Bloomfield Avenue in Verona. Annin & Company is the official flag manufacturer to the United Nations, and is a major supplier to the United States Government. Flag production originally included hand-embroidered and hand-sewn flags for countries around the world.

    Annin produced flags that were used on Iwo Jima, planted on the surface of the Moon by local hero Buzz Aldrin, at the North and South Poles, atop Mount Everest and the rubble of the World Trade Center in 2001. The Verona flag factory was in continuous operation from its opening in 1919 until 2013.
  • The Verona Police Department again hosted an Unwanted Medicine Drop Off this past weekend, September 27. The community was invited to bring unwanted medicine to the Verona Municipal Building for drop-off. Residents were asked to leave medications in their original containers and not to combine multiple medications in one container. For privacy purposes, residents were also reassured that they could remove any labels with personal information prior to drop-off.
  • The "Sole-Stice Run for a Cure 5k" is being held on Saturday, June 21st right here in our wonderful Verona Park. Please join us in supporting this amazing event. Our goal is to raise $5,000 with all proceeds going directly to the Cure Breast Cancer Foundation. CBCF supports ground-breaking breast cancer research at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center.

    There will be a DJ, raffle prizes and a one-mile Fun Run for kids starting at 9 a.m. The 5k run/walk kicks off at 9:30 a.m. So bring the whole family, tell your friends, cousins, tell your friend’s friends and come on out and help us reach our goal!   • This Saturday, May 31, the Verona Environmental Commission and volunteers will be planting White Oaks, River Birches, Ostrich ferns and other native plantings in the woods behind F.N. Brown School, adjacent to the Peckman River. We'll be there from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and welcome all volunteers to help. We'll meet at the trail entrance behind the playground.

    The trees were purchased with an Open Space Stewardship grant from the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions. Any time you can give us will count towards that grant. Bring your favorite shovel and help us plant those trees!

  • On Tuesday, February 25th, between 2:30pm and 6:30pm Aura Salon & Spa will host a "Cut-A-Thon" fundraiser to support Verona Youth Lacrosse and VHS Boys and Girls Lacrosse. This fundraiser applies to Haircuts and asks for a $20 minimum donation. Manicures will also be performed by an $8 donation. No appointment is necessary, however cuts will be on a first come first serve bases with 100% of the proceeds donated by Aura Salon & Spa.

  • The Verona Junior Women's Club invites fourth and fifth grade students to participate in this year's spelling bee at H.B. Whitehorne Middle School on Saturday, January 11, 2014. Residents of Verona or students enrolled in Verona's schools are invited. The top three students will represent Verona at the Regional Spelling Bee. Applications are due by December 20, 2013.   • Verona township will be hosting their 17th annual Fair in the Square this Saturday, Dec 7th between 12 - 5pm. The fair hosts area restaurants and businesses, local crafters, a Horse Drawn Wagon Ride, the Verona Jazz Choir and other demonstrations.
