If you are looking for something more, there are also luxury homes available. Most renters choose to live in several of the condo developments such as Darlington Ridge, Society Hill, Ridge Gardens and Ramapo Ridge where you can enjoy the amenities such as the pool and tennis courts. Mahwah is close to I-287, I-87 and Route 17. There is a train station in Mahwah and the Ramsey new station is nearby for expresses into NYC.
  • For those Mahwah people commuting to New York City via the train you can stop by the Mahwah Deli for your morning coffee or breakfast sandwich. Located just steps away from the train station in Mahwah. I go there several times a week. They have a great selection of sandwiches and soups. The owners are Pat and Les. If you stop by tell them Keith recommended the place.
  • I am very proud to call myself a Mahwah resident for over 18 years. Our township is very special. It was rated in the top 25 towns in New Jersey and has a host of great features, probably the greatest one is that it is like living in a large park with rolling hills.
In fact, Mahwah is known as Bergen County’s parkland and has many large parks and woodlands for hiking and camping and is also home to the only ski slope in Northeastern New Jersey! In addition there are horse riding stables right across the street from Ramapo College.

Mahwah is a great commuter location accessible to NYC by bus or train and, in fact, much of its history revolves around the train line. There are two museums dedicated to the history of Mahwah’s trains.

Many of the homes are quite historic; particularly those in the Craigmere section which were built with stone excavated from the ground they were built on. In the early to mid 20th century, many of these homes were summer residences for New York City residents. More recently Mahwah has seen a boom in contemporary housing: condominiums, medium priced homes and high end homes have been built on prime locations. Mahwah also has one of the highest rated school districts in the state, yet keeps taxes low because of the presence of large cooperate headquarters which also provide employment to many of the residents.
